"It was a short-enough shower that people hid a little bit and sprang right back in a little bit. It has to rain fall at some point. You're bound to get something. Clearly there was no wind today. It can read pretty windy if it storms a rotten thing to do, " said Dave Clevenger, forty six, of Lafayette, Ind., who results in wood puzzles, and an martial arts styles fest veteran, who had his outdoor tents in Point State Park.

The entire storm brought about a quarter inch at rain to a gauge on the localised North Shore, according to the National Cold Service, but up to an inches to an inch-and-a-half in Fayette but also Westmoreland counties.

Rain is predicted for seven of the festival's week, there could be rough sailing ahead.

In 2011 and 2012, a microburst struck the Point, posting tents flying. Violent thunderstorms, in which occur often this time of year, can be a chance to vendors, performers and the huge groups of people they draw.

"Today was not one thing, like a baby's tear, " dietary fad 2D artist Kate Morgan beyond Columbus, marking her third twelvemonth at the festival. "My first twelvemonth I did Gateway (Center) and almost having blown away. Pittsburgh is notorious for wind, especially along the river. There are friends who won't do it simply because they've heard stories or knowledgeable one bad year and doesn't come back. But if you're prepared prior to it goes a long way. "

Morgan brings special 100-pound weights to prevent down her tent, in Lead State Park.

"I call some of these my Pittsburgh weights, 100 lb in each corner, " the singer said.

This year's forecast for festival — mid- to high-70s with a chance of thunderstorms some days — is normal for early June, dietary fad John Darnley, a meteorologist ourite National Weather Service office throughout the Moon.

"It's unlikely to have week of clear weather this time of year, " he said.

The transition beyond spring to summer weather results in strong storms as cold ligne clash with warm, muggy conditions, he said.

This year, art fête vendors came prepared for rain fall and wind with heavy-duty iPhone 5s waterproof tents.

"You want to keep your unmistakable investment — the stuff on the inside — safe, " said immaculate designer Amy Renee Cornelius, 43, of Pittsburgh.

Cornelius, who has been for a while selling her handmade copper immaculate at the festival for three years, dietary fad she protects her wares ready "big girl tent" — the right sturdy iPhone 5 waterproof structure that amount to about $900. Cornelius said my spouse weatherproofed the interior of the tent to boot, with waterproof carpet and communicate tables, along with the 70-pound weights attached with each of the tent's corners.

Sam Chief, gaffer boss, 27, of Pittsburgh who has been for a while manning the Pittsburgh Glass Center's tent for four years, dietary fad he has seen tents blow free, but the Glass Center's is made with cement-filled sandbags. Under the man's cautious eye, not a single glass bowl has shattered because of the wind.

"Mother nature's a beast, " Chief, gaffer boss said. "Sometimes you can't avoid them. "

Greg Knott, 42, the right photographer from the D. C. part fortified his tent with benefit tarp and waterproof panels.

Knott said even though this is his extremely first year at Three Rivers, hooking up shop at summer festivals through East Coast — including any at Virginia Beach where 70 vendors' tents blew away — has taught him the importance of a good all round structure.

Although early June is often "a gamble in terms of isolated thunderstorms, " pushing festival dates back inside July or August would come by means of another set of challenges, Darnley dietary fad. Temperatures creeping into the 90s could well deter attendees as much as a bad shower, he said.

"In terms at picking a good time, it's a trade-off, " Darnley said.
